Artist's Comments

Ok, so I've finished it. It does not look a lot different from the study, but still, I got the texture that I wanted for the background. I trust that I don't have to do a whole lot of explaining for this one.

I have allowed downloading of this artwork, but please do not crop my name off and claim it as your own. You can use the artwork for personal, non-profit purposes. But always give me credit whenever the artwork is used. At least mention my name or make a link to this subdomain. (signum-io.deviantart.com)

if you'd tone down the blacks and up the whites and minimize the gray areas, it'd create more contrast for your image. more contrast here = more drama..

try one of these solutions:
gradient mapping: Black-to-White
channel mixing: tick the 'Monochrome' checkbox
*** tweak them to your preferences. ;)

these methods of desaturating are better than the Image>Adjustments>Desaturate method. this is because #1: desaturate only removes color info. Editing contrast and brightness afterwards makes the image look unnatural. #2: grayscaling using the 2 methods mentioned above would not ignore color information and preserve the harmony of the blacks and the whites and the greys. #3: the image would become more detailed. :)

try them out on photographs to see what i mean :)

and.. dont delete your previous artworks =P so you can gauge your progress everytime you submit a work. :D

OK. Thanks! :D That is for photoshop, is it? The thing is, I have been using GIMP 2.2 on my laptop. I'm challenging myself by trying that out. Anyway, you are right, it still does need improvement. I will work on it. If not this work (Just in case I couldn't make it work) I will try these things out on my next few ones. I find the two-tone project really interesting. :D

Thanks for taking some time out to help out! :)

Yeah. I'm using GIMP on Windows, though. It is quite a challenge. :D
